Euphemism is one of them. “Soft language” is at times necessary. I do accept and support its use in specific contexts, but a question must be raised: when does euphemism cross the boundary line between “attentiveness to the feelings of others” and manipulative bullshit to bend another’s perception of reality? Depends on who’s talking, in what context, to whom and for what reasons. No “word” as word is ever the guilty (or innocent) party.
